Italian Pizza Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (500 gr) Crushed Tomato (#400610)
  • 1 can (4 oz) Tomato Paste (#400880)
  • 1 Tbsp. Minced Garlic (#360190)
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped Fresh Basil (#340202)
  • 2 tsp. Sugar (#110650)
  • 1 Tbsp. chopped Onion (#340060)
  • 1 Tbsp. Olive Oil (#280395)
  • 2 tsp. Dried Oregano (#450120)
  • ½ tsp. Chili Powder (#450245)
  • Salt & Black Pepper to taste (#110610 & 450440)

Directions:

  1. Saute the garlic and onion in olive oil for 5 minutes and add all other ingredients except basil.  Simmer the pizza sauce for about 15-20 minutes.  Add the chopped basil 5 minutes before the sauce is ready.
  2. If during simmering the sauce becomes too thick, add some water.
  3. This recipe yields enough pizza sauce for about 4 medium pizzas.
