Chicken Paprika

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup Butter (#180140)
  • 1 Large Onion, sliced into rings (#340090)
  • 1 Chicken, 3 ½ lbs (#260460)
  • 1 ½ tsp Paprika (#450419)
  • 1 Green Pepper, seeded and sliced into rings (#360250)
  • 1 Tomato (#340095)
  • ¼ lb Fresh Mushrooms (#340400)
  • ½ cup Sour Cream (#180100)
  • Salt to taste (#110600)

Directions:

  1. In a heavy bottomed saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add onion and sauté until translucent (about five minutes).
  2. Remove pan from heat. Sprinkle chicken with salt and add to pan with paprika, half of the green pepper and half of the tomato.
  3. Cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid and cook over very low heat until the chicken is tender (1 to 1 ½ hours).
  4. During last 15 minutes of cooking, add mushrooms.
  5. Place pan over medium heat and cook juices, scraping bottom of pan to loosen any burnt bits. Add a spoonful of water to achieve a gravy-like consistency, then stir in sour cream. Pour over chicken and garnish with remaining green pepper and tomato.
